What happens when you pack up a sixty-year-old Corvette, squeeze in just enough luggage (but somehow still bring the most important things), and set off on a bucket-list adventure down Route 66? Let’s find out!
Join Nancy and Paul Garvey on the trip of a lifetime along historic Route 66, driving a 1959 Corvette convertible and embracing every surprise that comes their way. What unfolds is far more than a road trip. Through a rich collection of photographs, reflections, and memories, Nancy captures the spirit of the open road: the people they meet, the unexpected detours (including a carburetor fire), and the quiet moments of wonder. From small-town courthouses in Oklahoma to the striking vistas of the American Southwest, this journey becomes a bridge between past and present. As the miles roll by, Nancy reflects not only on the adventure at hand, but on the generations who traveled these lands before—by wagon, by necessity, and with far fewer comforts.
Told from the passenger-seat perspective of a self-described “non-car-guy” mom, this book offers a refreshing and relatable take on a classic route, blending travel, history, family legacy, and humor. Complete with planning notes, personal anecdotes, and a special addendum from a later journey through Colorado and New Mexico, this volume is both a keepsake and an inspiration, a celebration of the road and the memories made along the way.
